Chapter 556 Impulsive Danny
Since arriving in New York, Jack once even doubted whether his driving skills would be downgraded. The traffic conditions here were so bad that even wealthy people in the usual sense would choose public transportation such as the subway for daily travel.
It was rare that he had to do business today and it was midnight. There were not so many cars on the road. He could also have a little fun. The Dodge Hellcat sped through the streets of New York City late at night with its police lights flashing.
It only took them half an hour to get back to Manhattan from Long Island, including the time to slow down at the intersection. Danny subconsciously let go of the handle he held tightly all the way, secretly breathed a sigh of relief, and reminded, "Harlem is ahead. Zone."
Harlem is a traditional black gathering area in New York. It is one of the most dangerous communities in New York. It is also the place where jazz and rap music originated. The movie "American Gangster" tells the story that happened here.
Jack further slowed down the car and put one hand on his gun holster. There were many homeless people here who often wandered the streets. At the same time, Harlem is home to more than two-thirds of New York City's DU smoking population. Even if Police officers patrolling at night will also try to avoid these places.
Fortunately, nothing happened today. Not long after passing through Harlem, Inwood was not far ahead. Jack increased the speed again and quickly approached his destination.
"It's right there. Turn right ahead and you'll find the Lincoln Harbor Inn." Danny pointed to the intersection ahead. The Dodge Hellcat turned the corner and parked behind a blue van on the side of the road.
"There is no white van, but there is a blue one, but the rear window is intact." Jack got out of the car and walked towards the van in front of him.
"I think it's white." Danny took out the key and scraped hard on the butt of the car twice, revealing the original white paint underneath.
Jack turned on the tactical flashlight, shined it into the car through the rear window, and put his face against it. The almost pure black film on the car window made it difficult to see clearly what was going on inside. "It seems like something was placed in the car, but it looks like not sure."
"It looks like this window needs to be repaired again." Danny motioned for Jack to step aside, took out his telescopic baton, smashed the rear window glass neatly, and opened the rear door.
"There's something there, look at these." He opened a packaging box placed in the trunk and took out a small white communion dress and a box of votive candles.
"This pervert." Danny cursed angrily.
Holy Communion is an important ritual in Christianity. Among Catholics, there is also the First Holy Communion ceremony, which is usually given to children between the ages of 7 and 12.
In this ceremony, girls will wear a white princess gauze dress, a veil, and a cross necklace, dressing up like a little bride.
"Don't worry." Jack held down his arm, put on his gloves, opened the box of candles and inspected it.
"The good news is that none of them are missing, and none of them have been used."
Danny snorted, closed the car door, turned and walked into the hotel.
Too lazy to wait for the elevator, the two went directly up the stairs to the second floor and arrived at the door of Room 207. This room number was written on the note given to them by Mudley Bence.
Back on NYPD territory again, Jack still stood against the wall and stood next to the door to cover, but this time he pulled out the Glock directly.
"Don't be impulsive, we haven't had time to apply for a search warrant yet." Sensing that something was wrong with Danny's mood, he warned softly.
When Jack was at the BAU, he didn't have so many scruples when handling cases. Hotchner, who was a federal prosecutor himself, had always been flawless in paperwork, and he even learned a lot from it.
When he was in the LAPD before, Tim and a bunch of old guys were leading him, and they deliberately damaged the law enforcement recorders more than once.
But the current case was nominally owned by the NYPD, and it had received strong attention from the media. Now that the suspect had been basically identified, he was just about to make the final decision. He didn't want to mess up the matter because of Danny's impulsiveness.
Fortunately, although Danny has a hot temper, his military career has cultivated a rigorous and cooperative part of his character. Even though he was anxious, he still waited for his partner to signal to him when he was ready before knocking on the door.
"Open the door, police!"
Jack was secretly relieved that he didn't just kick the door behind him.
No one in the room responded, but there was a rustling sound, and Danny knocked a few more times impatiently.
"What." The door was opened a crack, and before the other party could finish what he said, Danny pushed it open hard and thrust the ID directly into the other party's face.
"Donald Burns?"
"Yes, what's the matter?" The short, middle-aged white man standing at the door was grabbed by the collar by Jack who put away the gun and pushed inside.
"We're going to go in and have a look, stand aside."
The other party had no weapons, they didn't have a search warrant, and they didn't even have enough evidence. They just followed the clues all the way here, and they could only use this somewhat illegal method.
This kind of thing can be made up for through paperwork afterwards. For example, Danny can write in the report that they heard a suspected little girl crying outside the door. This is how discretion is used.
The problem was that when he was standing outside the door, Jack's extraordinary perception made him realize that there was only one person in the house, which was a bit bad.
Either something happened to the little girl, and they only saw a corpse when they entered the room, or she was hidden elsewhere. The latter was okay, at least there was a chance of finding her, but the former was very bad.
This apartment-style hotel room is not large in size. There is a small corridor at the entrance, one end leads to the bathroom, and the other side is the bedroom.
There was nothing in the bathroom. Jack pushed the pudgy Donald Burns into the bedroom and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. There was a pile of clothes thrown on the bed. There was no body, and there was no place to hide people like a wardrobe.
"Are you packing? Where are you going at this time? Where is the little girl?" Danny asked, pointing at the guy.
At the same time, Jack kicked the suitcase on the floor and lifted the mattress, but found no problem. It seemed that the little girl was hidden somewhere else by this bastard.
"I don't know what you're talking about?" Donald Burns looked confused, but unfortunately his acting skills were not up to par. His unconsciously wandering eyes and frequent blinks showed that he was lying.
"Of course you know, otherwise how do you think we found you? When you kidnapped her from the street, you accidentally left your things in the gutter." Jack set a small trap in his words.
"A doll was indeed stolen from my car. It was a gift I was going to give to my niece for her first communion." Donald Burns knew he had been fooled as soon as he spoke.
"Are you referring to the van that you painted blue and replaced with a rear window?" Danny sneered, not making a fool of himself.
"I don't need to talk to you at all, I have the right." Before Donald Bence could finish his words, Danny pushed him against the wall, turned him over and cuffed him.
"Yes, you have the right to remain silent. Everything you say now can be used as evidence in court. You have the right to receive help from a lawyer. If you cannot afford the lawyer's fees, you will be assigned a lawyer before the questioning begins. lawyer."
Jack continued what he said and recited the Miranda warning in full.
"Okay, okay, okay, take me to the police station. My lawyer will be able to pick me out in less than an hour." Donald Burns said and turned around again, facing Danny provocatively. .
"Maybe I'll have time to visit my little niece then."
"What did you say, Fake?" Danny was furious, kicked him in the crook of the leg, forced him to kneel on the ground, and then grabbed the guy's collar and dragged him into the toilet.
Is this guy confident or just a broken person? Jack shook his head and walked back to the door. After thinking about it for a while, he finally spoke to persuade him.
"Danny, actually we can take him back and use your favorite interrogation room."
"There's no time, that girl needs insulin." Danny replied without raising his head, and while Donald Burns was struggling, he pushed his head into the toilet.
"Don't make too much noise," Jack muttered, walked out of the room, closed the door quietly, stood in the corridor at the door and lit himself a Willy cigarillo.
