Chapter 296: lost diary
Chapter 296 The Lost Diary
The next day, Filch still didn't show up at the castle.
While having dinner, Kyle found Harry specifically and wanted to find out what happened in Lockhart's office yesterday.
“You must not tell other people, Professor Dumbledore doesn’t want too many people to know about this.”
Harry looked around and lowered his voice: "Filch became like stone because of a profound black magic."
“Can’t Madam Pomfrey cure him?” Kyle asked.
"No." Harry shook his head. "Madam Pomfrey got several bottles of potions on him, and even soaked him in a barrel full of potions, but that had no effect at all, but..."
Harry hesitated for a moment, and then continued: "But Lockhart said he had a way, and said he was in a place called Wagga...what the hell, no, I can't remember the name clearly.
Anyway, he encountered similar things in one place and used various amulets to help those people solve the problems. "
“But I think he’s bragging.”
Ron next to him said swornly: "Remember? He said the same thing on the third floor, but the place names were completely different."
"It's just a different name, you can't say that." Hermione retorted: "What if he met him twice."
"Hermione, do you still believe what he said?" Ron frowned dissatisfied, "He can't even deal with elves."
"By the way Ron..." Seeing that the two of them were about to quarrel, Kyle quickly changed the subject.
“Have you found your pet?”
“Oh, you said Scabbers has been found.” Ron took out the fat mouse from his pocket.
“Guess what, it didn’t go outside at all, it was just under the cabinet in the common room, but it may have been a little listless because it hasn’t eaten for a long time.”
“It’s okay, I have mouse tonic.”
Kyle took out a small bottle filled with red potion and handed it to Ron.
“Thanks, Kyle.”
Ron took it happily.
Kyle gave him a bottle of this mouse tonic last year. It was very useful. Every time Banban drank it, he felt very energetic... but the amount was a bit small. The bottle last year had been used up long ago, and he never had the nerve to ask Kyle for it again. .
“You’re welcome, I also want to thank you for satisfying my curiosity.”
Kyle waved his hand, "It's just a bottle of rat tonic. What a big deal. Just come to me when you use it up."
Then he looked at Harry again.
“Potter…”
“Just call me Harry.”
"Okay, Harry." Kyle asked, "Have you heard any strange noises recently?"
“Strange sound? What does it mean…”
“It’s that whisper that only you can hear, but no one else can,” explains Kyle.
Harry scratched his hair and thought carefully about it for a while...
"No."
“I only heard the letters talking when I was answering Lockhart’s letters.
But Lockhart also heard it at the time, and said that it was a special way of replying, which left time for reading, and that many of his admirers were using it. "
“This is obviously not a special whisper...right.”
Kyle nodded,
It seems that Harry did not hear the basilisk's voice.
However, the petrification problem that even Dumbledore cannot solve is likely to be related to the basilisk.
Coupled with the mysteriously lost diary...these problems were piled together, and Kyle only felt that one was bigger than the other. He still hasn't figured out how the diary was lost.
Kyle has thought about Ron's rat Scabbers, also known as Peter Pettigrew...but that's unlikely.
Peter is just a mouse disguised as a pet now. Even Ron doesn't know that he has a Horcrux called a diary in his hand, so he certainly won't know either.
To take a step back, even if Peter really knew...but Kyle always carried the deformed lizard skin bag containing the box with him, almost never leaving his sight, and even if he slept at night, Raton would be watching over him.
A rat sneaks in and steals something without any notice, leaving no trace behind?
It’s not that Kyle looked down on Peter. If he really had this ability, he wouldn’t have pretended to be a pet mouse and hid in the Weasley family for more than ten years.
He also thought of a possibility that it was a time turner... but the Department of Mysteries had rejected the application twice in a row, and even Dumbledore couldn't borrow it, let alone himself.
And why did he go back in time to steal his own things... And who released the basilisk that petrified Filch, himself? Or Riddle?
Kyle’s mind was filled with almost all questions.
On the other side, in the eyes of Harry and others, Kyle suddenly became silent and sat there motionless, not knowing what he was thinking.
If his expression hadn't been changing all the time, and the hand holding the cutlery would occasionally cut the steak twice unconsciously, Harry would have thought that Kyle had been petrified.
Ron originally wanted to reach out and push Kyle, but was stopped by Hermione.
"Ron, Kyle is thinking about something, don't disturb him," Hermione said.
"All right."
Ron didn't care, he turned his hand to the dining table and took two more chicken drumsticks.
About ten minutes later, Kyle came back to his senses, breathed a sigh of relief, and reached out to rub his forehead.
He decided to give up.
“What were you thinking about just now?” Harry asked curiously.
“Think of some dark magic that can make Filch like that.” Kyle said casually.
Harry became interested, "Have you thought about it?"
"I don't know much about dark magic." Kyle shrugged, "The petrification spell is okay, but it obviously won't trouble Dumbledore."
“That’s it…” Harry looked a little disappointed.
“By the way, why did you run to the third floor?”
Kyle took a bite of steak that was about to be cut into dumplings, and suddenly asked: "Are you going to go back to Gryffindor Tower directly? I thought you would go to the auditorium first, get some food and then go back."
"We chased Moaning Myrtle to get there." Harry sighed, "While we were in the underground classroom, we accidentally said something, and she heard her and wanted to catch up and explain."
"Then we met Filch, who was petrified, and that **** cat."
Ron touched a light wound on his face and said angrily: "The cat has been following us since we left the underground classroom. After we reached the third floor, it regarded us as the murderer who petrified Filch. My My face was scratched by it.
If you ask me, I should have used the wand at that time..."
"Ron, we can't do that." Harry said seriously: "It's troublesome enough to hit the petrified Filch, but if we hurt Mrs. Norris again, it will be even more difficult for us to explain."
"I know..." Ron muttered softly: "But why do we have to encounter these things? That cat's scratching really hurts!"
"You're right." Harry touched his arm, and there were also a few light traces of blood there.
But he and Hermione were luckier, they only got scratched on their arms.
While in Lockhart's office, Madam Pomfrey applied some potion to them and stopped the bleeding on the spot.
When I woke up this morning, the wounds were almost healed. It is estimated that they will be completely healed by tomorrow.
