Chapter 313: Discovery in the secret room

Chapter 313 Discovery in the secret room

Although Harry and Ron told no one that Hermione was hospitalized, her disappearance quickly attracted the attention of several Gryffindors.

They had long been used to her being in the common room, chirping and urging Ron and Harry to do their homework, but now it was suddenly quiet, and they were still a little uncomfortable with it.

Ron insisted that he didn't know at first, but the Weasleys knew their little brother (elder brother) too well, and they managed to get the words out of him in just a few words.

 …

“So, Hermione is in the school hospital?”

"Oh..." Ron groaned, covering his face. If he had known better, he would not have spoken.

"Is it another attack?" Percy suddenly stood up from the sofa, "Don't leave here, I'll inform the professor!" After that, he ran out the door.

Ron and Harry hurriedly stopped him.

"It's not an attack, it has nothing to do with the Chamber of Secrets!" Harry said urgently.

"Not an attack?" Percy glanced suspiciously at Harry and Ron, who were hugging his legs.

 “Really not!”

"I promise!"

After the two people’s earnest persuasion, Percy finally sat back down.

Fred and George looked at the nervous Ron playfully, but didn't say anything. They just looked at each other and quickly completed some kind of communication.

 …

On the morning of the third day of vacation, when Kyle was about to leave after visiting Hermione, he met the sneaky Fred and George at the door.

“What are you doing in the school hospital?”

“We’ve got a cold!” Fred blurted out.

“Come here to get a pick-me-up.” George pretended to cough twice.

Kyle raised his eyebrows.

With their rosy faces, they didn't look like they had a cold at all. They probably knew that Hermione was in the hospital and came here to inquire about the situation.

"What about you, Kyle, are you coming to the campus hospital to see someone?" Fred asked.

“Oh, I’m here to get a pick-me-up potion, too.” Kyle said loudly, taking out a small bottle filled with red potion.

Hermione obviously didn't want others to know that she had turned into a cat.

In order to prevent these two people from talking to me in the future, the best way is to pretend not to know.

“What a coincidence!” George laughed and said, “It’s been cold recently, so you should pay attention to your health.”

“Yeah, yeah, you guys are the same.”

The three of them chatted awkwardly for a while, and then they left.

By the time Fred and George entered the campus hospital, Madam Pomfrey had already covered Hermione's room with a curtain, and they saw nothing.

On the other side, Kyle, who returned to the castle, originally wanted to go to the library.

But when he walked near the foyer, he happened to see Peeves holding a handful of balloons and flying around the castle after Myrtle.

Ever since the attack on Bloody Barrow, Peeves has become completely lawless. He is either chasing the ghost or chasing away students all day long. He only restrains himself a little in front of the professor.

Myrtle is one of Peeves' favorite targets.

Kyle also couldn't figure out why Myrtle was afraid of Peeves' balloon. It couldn't hit her at all.

But this is also a good opportunity.

After they flew away, Kyle immediately changed direction and came to the empty bathroom.

According to past experience, the chasing game between Peeves and Myrtle should last at least an hour, during which time he can just go to the secret room.

Kyle opened the pipe in snake language and jumped in, arriving at the end of the passage with ease.

The door to the secret room slowly opened. Kyle took the wand and carefully stepped onto the black floor. Before he left last time, the stone stuck by the door was gone. It was certain that someone had been in the secret room during this time.

Kyle looked around carefully.

The good news is that there is no other person here besides him, so you don’t need to worry about anyone suddenly popping up to attack you.

But under the Slytherin statue, there are some scattered snake sloughs and an obvious drag mark.

There is still some undried mucus on it, which is a bit like the marks left by Philobic caterpillars when they crawled across the floor, but it is much larger than that.

Seeing the drag marks and the snake slough, Kyle knew that the basilisk must have come out.

But who is it... Kyle stood up. Thinking carefully about everything that happened recently...

There was silence in the secret room, which was eerie and terrifying. The snake eyes carved on the pillars and the statue of Slytherin seemed to be staring at Kyle.

But Kyle didn't care about this. He was pacing back and forth while thinking.

Before this, he asked Myrtle several times, but she said that she had not seen anyone else enter the bathroom.

However, Myrtle's words may not always be right. Although she lives in the bathroom, she does not always stay in the cubicle.

But why didn’t the props he arranged move? Could it be that there is another entrance...or that the person who released the basilisk didn’t enter through the door?

                       ifies…

Suddenly, another sound that was completely different from the footsteps came from the secret room.

Kyle was suddenly awakened and immediately pulled out his wand and pointed it in the direction of the door, but he soon realized that the sound came from under his feet.

Kyle lifted his feet. Only then did he realize that he had accidentally stepped on a piece of snake slough while pacing.

 “Scare me.”

Kyle breathed a sigh of relief.

But just when he reached out to pick up the snake slough, he suddenly discovered that there was something else underneath.

 A golden chain…

Kyle picked it up quickly.

The chain is less than two inches, and is connected by several small golden snakes. There are signs of being torn off on both sides, and it looks like it must have been torn from something complete.

“Is this left by the person holding the diary?”

Seeing those little snakes, Kyle immediately thought of Slytherin.

Who makes them like snakes the most? Whether it is clothes or accessories, this kind of decoration is indispensable.

As long as you pick up something with a snake-shaped pattern at Hogwarts, you don't have to think about it, it must be Slytherin.

But...Kyle looked at the half of the chain carefully.

Although the snake clasps connected together are very small, they are lifelike. Even the scales on the body are clearly visible, as if they are alive. You can tell at a glance that this thing is definitely not a cheap thing.

 Slytherin...still has money?

 Draco Malfoy?

Kyle subconsciously thought of Harry's old rival.

But he soon shook his head.

No... On Halloween, Malfoy had been attending the dinner in the Great Hall, and he didn't have time to release the basilisk to attack Filch.

Moreover, Lucius Malfoy probably wouldn't let him get involved.

But who else could he be...

Kelmore was stroking the chain and thought of a few other names, Millicent Burst, Daphne Greengrass, Pansy Parkinson...or Crabbe, Goyle?
