Chapter 288: Massacre in the Hall of Justice
Diana led Eric out of the stable to a wider space.
Various caves and roads are carved into the intricate walls.
As the two kept getting closer, various kinds of withered humans emerged from the cave.
They were wearing tattered clothes and stood there languidly, staring blankly at Eric and Diana below.
The elderly, children, and women holding babies are yellow-faced and skinny, and are described as haggard.
Like a refugee on the road to escape.
"There are about 100,000 people down here, look at them, Eric. I know you, you must be thinking about saving all the people above. But..."
She shook her head slightly, her voice unusually low, "There is almost nothing left on it, and no one wants to go with us. After we let them down..."
Diana continued to walk with Eric, leaving the place where the residents lived, and came to a semicircular raised space.
In the huge space, there was the sound of rushing water.
That seems to be where the groundwater passes.
After entering this space, Eric found a huge architectural carving boulder, half of which fell into the water, and the upper half revealed a few letters that formed "justice".
That seems to be... the lobby of the Justice League?
"Diana, that's the Justice League...?"
"right."
Diana walked to the water's edge and stared at the stone carvings in the foyer, "When the Justice League Hall was built, I still remember how I was feeling, living room or exercise room? Neither was included in my plan, I was determined to first Building a public church where people can continue their faith...isn't that the most important thing?"
She thought of happy things, and a smile appeared on her tired face.
"So...what the **** happened and how did the villains win? Diana."
"Not a villain, Eric."
"Who else could that be?"
"It's everyone else!"
Diana turned around, looked at Eric, and whispered the truth.
"It happened on a Thursday and Lex Luthor got on all the screens and gave a speech to everyone in the world. 'Everything is falling apart,' he said. 'The world is warming, resources are running out, Power increases control...you can feel it, just like me, but our leaders only say good people pay off'."
Diana watched the gurgling water, her voice gradually getting deeper and deeper, she imitated Lex Luthor's tone, "Listen to me, kindness is the oldest lie in the world, some people say that being a good person can live in a beautiful place. In the garden of a man, eat an apple and you can see the truth. But I will say this: eat as many apples as you want!”
"Clark (Superman) tried to stop him, but..."
"But what?" Eric pressed Diana.
"People chose to destroy, Eric. Those who were supposed to protect us, brought us down one by one. We ended up having one last meeting in the hall about where to go, war, or leave forever?"
Diana seemed to feel a little tired, she stopped, and after a while, she said quietly: "But Batman, he thinks that he should accept people, maybe even give them super powers, that is the only way for us to win, so he opened door."
"superpower?"
Eric doesn't quite understand how Batman can give people superpowers.
"It's Compound No. 5!"
Diana said a word that did not surprise Eric, "The bottle of Compound 5 you gave me was accidentally known to Batman. He stole Compound 5 from me and then conducted research. . Finally, he developed the fifth compound that can be given to all ordinary people - he named God Gene Medicine!"
"I still underestimated Batman, even though we were comrades, he still guarded me and installed a wiretap in my living room. By the time I found out that Compound 5 was stolen, it was too late."
Not only did Diana feel hopeless about this bad world, she also felt resentment and scorn for herself.
If it weren't for his own reasons, Batman would not have come into contact with Compound 5, and he would not have created God's Gene Potion if he had not been exposed to Compound 5. Without God's Gene Potion, he would not have given people superpowers!
All origins and sins are related to oneself.
Seeing Diana's remorse and pain, Eric stepped forward and gently held her cold hand.
"You don't have to blame yourself, Diana, it has nothing to do with you at all. Even without Compound Five, Batman can still find a way to give superpowers to those people."
Feeling the warmth in Eric's palm, Diana's mood recovered a little.
She raised her head and continued to tell Eric what happened next.
"After the Justice League lobby door was opened, the crowd poured in. They ripped Batman to pieces first, then Arthur (Aquaman), Oliver (Arrow), Dana (Black Canary) .. ...I heard their screams and couldn't stop it."
Diana's tone grew heavier.
"Luthor thought he was going to win...until people turned against him, and his villains. Like he said, 'eat all the apples'! It was hell, Arie gram."
Diana moved closer to Eric's chest, as if she wanted to touch more warmth.
"Then, out of the chaos, a new force of evil arose, calling themselves Omega, the worst ever. The surviving superheroes united those villains to fight him together All of us, a final battle. But we lost, he was incredibly powerful, he had an anti-life formula, and he used it to dominate the East Coast."
When it comes to Omega, Diana still has lingering fears.
"There are rumors that Omega has just found a way to enhance the anti-life equation hundreds of times, and can use him to control every creature on earth. He can now activate anytime, anywhere, and now he can't hide even here."
Diana raised her head and looked at Eric, who was in deep thought. "We are heading deeper into the underworld. The surviving superheroes and those with good intentions are heading to the underworld together to avoid his control."
Eric gently hugged the cold Diana into his arms, letting her feel his warmth.
"So you've been working so hard! Forgive me, Diana, I can't accompany you through all this chaotic nightmare. But..."
He said in a firm tone: "As you know me, I will not let the remaining human beings on the ground no matter how strong Omega is, I will not give them up. No matter how strong his rule is, I will not let go. Will succumb to watching human beings enslaved by him!"
