Chapter 354 Journey to the East
"Hey! The catastrophe is about to end? The Western envoys are about to arrive in Chang'an?"
As soon as Yuanshi broke through, he returned to the prehistoric world, and then he found that seven hundred years had passed. Many things had happened in these seven hundred years. Now the envoys sent by the West to the East to exchange Buddhist scriptures are about to arrive in the East.
During this period of time, the prehistoric world was surging. Although nothing major happened, the eyes of many powerful people were focused on this journey to the east.
At this moment, the sky of the royal family in the human world has also changed, and it has become the world of Li Tang.
Li Yuan sat on the throne and was ready to cut the military power of Qin Wang Li Shimin. Unexpectedly, Li Shimin launched the Xuanwu Gate Incident, and on the grounds that the crown prince Li Jiancheng and Qi Wang Li Yuanji were rebellious, he raised troops to punish them, and then became the crown prince.
It has been two hundred years since Li Shimin has been in power. In this era where everyone can practice, the emperors of the dynasty generally have a long lifespan, and it is normal to be in power for hundreds of years.
The Monkey King Sun Wukong returned to Huaguo Mountain five hundred years ago. He occasionally returned to Kunlun Mountain in recent years, but mostly he was free and easy in Huaguo Mountain.
Many great powers in the prehistoric world now know that he is from Kunlun Mountain, so they did not treat him as a chess piece and manipulate him at will as in the original trajectory.
The Monkey King is still the original monkey. Although he has gone through reincarnation, he is still as arrogant as he was back then. When he returned to Huaguo Mountain, he did what he should do. The name of the Great Sage Equaling Heaven Sun Wukong resounded throughout the prehistoric demon world.
The cause of the incident was that the demon forces left over from the original ancient war came to win over Sun Wukong, and even because of Sun Wukong's identity as a disciple of the Yuxu Sect of Kunlun Mountain, they wanted to use him as a chess piece to cause chaos and seize the original demon clan's emperor Haotian.
Unfortunately, they did not know that Sun Wukong was no longer the original Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong sneered and of course he was unwilling, so he fell out with the demon clan.
Sun Wukong summoned the magic weapon Ruyi Jingu Bang from his previous life, stirred up the East China Sea, fought with several demon kings of the demon clan for three days and three nights, and killed them all. This matter spread in the demon world, and the name of Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, became known.
Then the Heavenly Court naturally came to recruit him, and because of the relationship with Kunlun Mountain, there was no unpleasant incident. Emperor Haotian generously gave him a sinecure of the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, which was a leisurely immortal official with a name but no substance.
Sun Wukong didn't care either. He was no longer the original Sun Wukong, and he had let go of some things. He was not the material for the Jade Emperor. This kind of leisurely immortal official was suitable for him.
Sun Wukong lived his free life. In his spare time, he went to Wanshou Mountain to find ginseng fruit to eat, and had a battle with Zhen Yuanzi. They got to know each other after fighting, and they became brothers because they had similar tastes.
Sun Wukong's cultivation speed is the most shocking. He became an immortal in three years, a golden immortal in ten years, and a golden immortal in a hundred years. Now he has reached the perfection of the golden immortal.
It is the Chaos Crystal Stone used by Yuanshi to mend the sky. It was returned to its origin with the Qiankun Ding. Later, Yuanshi forged it with the power of creation and was nourished by the ancestral veins of the ten continents for millions of years. It is unreasonable that such qualifications are not against the sky.
Before cultivation, it has experienced infinite reincarnations and has cultivated countless times. Even if it was just a dream, it also made its state of mind and soul infinitely high. Now the speed of cultivation is naturally few people can compare with it.
It is not the "Nine Turns Mysterious Art" that it cultivates, but the "Nine Turns Heaven Art" of the Zhuyan clan that Chaos Tianzun in the Heaven Covering Realm found from the ancient time and space. This art is also the art practiced by the Douzhan Saint Ape clan, as if it was specially designed for Sun Wukong. Most of the other arts in Kunlun Mountain are suitable for human cultivation, but only this art is the most suitable for it.
Because the "Nine Turns Heavenly Art" only has the cultivation method to the Daluo Jinxian realm, it needs to create the rest by itself, so it is still stuck in the Daluo Perfection realm until now, otherwise it would have broken through to the Quasi-Sage.
It is also because of the practice of this art that its combat power is even more terrifying, and it is not difficult to fight against the enemy at a higher level.
Sun Wukong is free, but his nemesis Liu Er Mihou does not seem to be happy.
Liu Er Mihou and Sun Wukong are both one of the four monkeys in the world, so they naturally have their own unique features. The four demon monkeys each have their own extraordinary features.
Lingming Stone Monkey, who is good at change, knows the weather, knows the terrain, and can move stars and change the constellations.
Red-butted Horse Monkey, who knows yin and yang, knows human affairs, is good at going in and out, and avoids death and prolongs life.
Tongbi Ape Monkey, who holds the sun and the moon, shrinks thousands of mountains, distinguishes good and bad, and is the Qiankun Mona.
Liu Er Mihou, who is good at listening, can observe the truth, knows the past and the future, and understands everything.
The six-eared macaque was found by Bodhi, the clone of Zhunti, and then trained to be a lawless master.
Bodhi did not reveal that he was a Western Buddhist, and even instigated the six-eared macaque to go to the Lingshan Mountain in the West to make a big fuss. In the end, the Buddha took action and suppressed it. Five hundred years later, it escorted Xuanzang, the tenth reincarnation of Jin Chanzi, to the East to exchange the essence of Buddhism after going through 81 difficulties.
Jin Chanzi was originally a disciple of Tathagata. He liked to wander around and think alone. In the end, he began to question the Buddha's Dharma. Because the Buddha's Dharma could not solve his problems and he could not get what he wanted, he was sent to the mortal world by Tathagata to suffer the pain of reincarnation.
After becoming a mortal, Xuanzang continued to study Buddhism. He was still very confused and wanted to get out of this world and see the outside world. He was always questioning and challenging fearlessly. He believed that Buddha did not call himself a Buddha because of his high level of cultivation. Only those who can truly save all living beings, care for all living beings, and are proficient in the great compassion, great wisdom and great nirvana of Buddhism can be called Buddha.
Buddha is not a Buddha like them who looks down on others based on their cultivation level. It’s okay not to want a Buddha like that.
It was because of this that he had a disagreement with the Tathagata. Xuanzang was sent to reincarnation again and again, and now he is in his tenth life. This time, Tathagata allowed him to go out to the outside world. He heard that there was Buddhism in the East, so he asked him to go to the East as a Buddhist Buddhist to preach Western Buddhism.
Xuanzang wanted to find what he wanted in his heart. For this obsession, he embarked on the eastward journey as a mortal. Buddhism arranged three guardians for him, one is the six-eared macaque, one is the messenger of the altar, one is the golden arhat, and of course, there is also a white horse.
Xuanzang rode a white horse, followed by four protectors, all the way east, embarking on the path of spiritual practice.
Xuanzang went all the way east and promoted Buddhist teachings along the way to let more living beings believe in Buddhism. This was the agreement he made with Tathagata.
On the journey to the East, there were countless countries, some believed in Buddhism, and some did not believe in Buddhism, and instead killed the monks. What they have to do is to eliminate demons along the way, promote the Buddha's equality of all living beings, and let these countries build temples to make offerings to gods and Buddhas.
Traveling eastward, passing through famous mountains and countries, killing the remnants of the demon clan along the way, not only spread the light of Buddhism across the earth, but also gained merit, which can be said to be both fame and fortune.
But in the process, the differences between the four have become larger and larger, and their oppression by Buddhism has become stronger and stronger, resulting in irreconcilable conflicts between the four.
Passing by the Liusha River, the golden Arhat Sha Wujing ate people in anger and became a demon. He built a cave in the Liusha River. The people traveling eastward were now missing one person and were no longer complete.
When he arrived at Gaolaozhuang, Zhu Wuneng, the messenger of the altar, became lustful, married a woman, and lived there. There is one less person to travel eastward.
Buddhism was furious and demoted Zhu Wuneng into a mortal and turned into a pig demon.
Passing by Yingchou Stream in Shepan Mountain, the white horse mounted by the spiritual beast was swallowed by a white dragon from the East China Sea. Xuanzang had no choice but to ride a mortal horse and continue his eastward journey.
On the journey to the west, the six-eared macaques were lawless and repeatedly killed the ears and eyes sent to the lower world by the heavenly court. Finally, they got into trouble with the heavenly court. Emperor Haotian took action and suppressed the six-eared macaques at the foot of the Five Elements Mountain.
At this point, of the four people traveling from the west to the east, only Xuanzang was left. But Xuanzang still didn't give up at this moment. No one could understand the obsession in his heart.
He continued eastward by himself, going through many hardships and dangers, and finally reached the most powerful country in the East - Chang'an of the Tang Dynasty.
As Western envoys, Xuanzang and the Tang Emperor naturally received him personally. After some courtesy, Xuanzang explained his intention, and the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty immediately agreed to his request, allowing him to exchange Buddhist teachings with the Eastern Jingnian Zen Sect and Cihang Jingzhai.
After this exchange, Xuanzang immediately discovered that some parts of Eastern Buddhism coincided with his thoughts. The more they communicated, the more subtle he felt about Eastern Buddhism.
This Eastern Buddhism was summarized by the Yuan Dynasty based on countless Buddhist masters in later generations. Some are even Buddhist teachings from other worlds. Naturally, they are not comparable to the newly established Buddhism in the West.
Xuanzang fell in love with the place immediately, and he even forgot to go back to the West.
In this way, Xuanzang was named the imperial disciple by the Tang Emperor, became the abbot of Jinshan Temple, and completely became a member of Eastern Buddhism.
At this point, the journey to the east is over.
Maybe five hundred years from now, a six-eared macaque will break free from the suppression of the Five Elements Mountains, go to heaven, and cause havoc in the heavenly palace, but its fate has long been doomed and is unavoidable.
The spiritual god dies and turns into a stubborn stone, which may be its final outcome.
I’ve read too much Journey to the West, and there’s nothing new. Let’s read Journey to the East backwards, haha!
