Chapter 10 Falling into the Water
Uncomfortable, very uncomfortable, this was Duan Qing's first feeling after emerging from the water.
He was suddenly thrown into the river by Uncle Wang, and water entered his nose and ears, choking him so much that his head was dizzy.
Duan Qing paddled hard with both hands, trying to swim to the shore.
However, although the flow of the river here was not fast, the force of the water flow was amazing in the middle of the river. Duan Qing had almost no resistance and was carried downstream by the water flow.
He wanted to turn his head to see the situation on the bridge, but the luggage and black pot on his back became his biggest burden at the moment.
Because of carrying these things, only half of his head was above the water. When he turned his head, he choked on a large mouthful of water and saw nothing.
Although the pot might cost him his life now, Duan Qing had no intention of throwing it away.
It was something his father gave him. In the past few days after he went out, except for cooking and sleeping, he kept the pot with him, carrying it all the time, just like wearing a piece of clothing.
The ruthless river water carried Duan Qing farther and farther away. He kept paddling with his hands and swinging his feet to keep his body from sinking.
But even so, it was still difficult for him to get rid of the pull of the water.
Seeing the direction of the shore, Duan Qing buried his head and swam hard. I don’t know how long it took, just when he was about to despair, his feet finally stepped on the mud and sand at the bottom of the river.
When Duan Qing finally reached the river bank, he was exhausted and fell on the shore. He lay on the ground and gasped, with a pot on his back. He looked like some kind of creature now.
After a while, he struggled to stand up.
He was still thinking about the safety of Uncle Wang and the others. Although he knew that he might not be able to help if he went back now, he couldn’t leave them alone and run away.
But his heart was willing but his strength was insufficient. His body seemed to be out of control now. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t support himself.
Just now, under the shadow of death, he had tried his best to exert his strength. Now that he had recovered, he felt that there was no part of his body that was not sore.
After several failed attempts to get up, Duan Qing's face fell heavily on the mud and sand, and he fainted from exhaustion.
When Duan Qing woke up, it was already evening.
Although his limbs were still sore and weak at this time, he could at least stand up and walk.
He looked upstream and could vaguely see the outline of the stone bridge, but he couldn't see what was going on on it.
"Uncle Wang and the others are still there, I can't leave them behind!" Duan Qing murmured stubbornly.
So he took a trembling step and walked upstream along the river.
The afterglow of the setting sun shone from the front of him, stretching his figure very long. No matter what, he had to go back and take a look.
"Uncle Wang, scholar, wait for me, you must not be in trouble."
About half an hour later, Duan Qing finally returned to the stone bridge.
At this moment, there was no one else on the bridge except him, or nothing else.
There was no one on the bridge, and everyone had disappeared.
Looking at the scattered bloodstains on the bridge, Duan Qing had a vague answer in his heart!
But he couldn't accept the reality, and couldn't believe that people who were alive not long ago were gone now!
Staring blankly at the bloodstains, his heart seemed to be hammered by a sledgehammer, tears silently flowed from his eyes, and he felt indescribably uncomfortable.
"Why, why is this happening! Uncle Wang, dead scholar, where are Brother Zhang and Brother Cheng!
Duan Qing screamed out of control and roared at the wind.
Before, he promised to go to Luzhou City with Uncle Wang. Although Duan Qing was a little uncomfortable with the sudden change, he still had a beautiful vision for the future and was full of hope, hoping to return home one day.
But now Uncle Wang and Wu Wen's group are still alive and dead, and he is left alone. What should he do!
After crying and shouting on the bridge for a long time, venting his uncontrollable emotions, he followed What came was a wave of confusion and emptiness.
Duan Qing had no idea what to do next. His feet seemed to become particularly heavy. He stood on the bridge for a long time but couldn't move.
After a while, when it was almost dark, Duan Qing finally took a step and walked forward dejectedly, towards Luzhou City.
He was not sure why he continued to move forward. In fact, what he wanted most now was to return to Xiao'an City and be with his parents.
However, after all this happened, he subconsciously He was somewhat reluctant to go back, not wanting his parents to see his miserable appearance.
He also had a glimmer of hope in his heart, hoping to continue walking forward, maybe he could find Uncle Wang and the others!
It was pitch black all around, and with the faint moonlight in the sky, all he could see were trees.
He walked forward in the dark for a long time, and before he knew it, the trees around him gradually became denser.
An hour later, Duan Qing helplessly found that he was lost!
It was terribly quiet all around, except for the sound of his own footsteps, there was not even the sound of insects.
Looking around, he could not see a single light.
It seemed that no one lived nearby.
Duan Qing felt a little scared, as it was the first time he had spent the night alone in the wild.
The only time he slept in the wild last night was with Uncle Wang and the others.
He didn't feel anything when there were many people at that time, but now he was alone in an unfamiliar forest, and the fear in his heart gradually rose.
Duan Qing knew that he could not go on, and if he was lost in the dark, he would get more and more lost.
It would be better to go back after dawn tomorrow to see if we can get back to the main road.
At this moment, his clothes were still wet. He had been immersed in grief before, but he didn't feel anything.
Now that he stopped, the cool breeze in the forest blew, and he felt a chill. In addition, he was alone in the dark forest, which made the fear in his heart grow and magnify.
When people face fear in the dark, the most hope to see is light.
At this time, Duan Qing wanted to make a fire first.
So he found a small open space nearby, groped in the dark and rolled up a small ball of dead leaves on the ground, then took off the black pot and bundle behind him, and searched for flint in the bundle.
He remembered that he put a pair of flint in the bundle before leaving.
Sure enough, he found it!
Although the flint was a little damp because it was soaked in water, it took a little more effort to finally ignite the dead leaves.
Fortunately, it hasn't rained in the past few days, and the leaves are very dry, otherwise I really don't know how to spend tonight.
Duan Qing breathed a sigh of relief as he looked at the fire in front of him.
However, he did not dare to relax, and quickly found a lot of dead branches around and broke them and added them to the fire.
It would not last long if the leaves alone were burned.
After a while, as the bonfire burned more and more vigorously, Duan Qing's fear was also dispelled. He built a simple wooden frame next to the bonfire, took off his wet clothes, and put them on the wooden frame with the clothes in his bag to bake.
Until this time, Duan Qing was completely relaxed. He sat by the bonfire in just a pair of pants, buried his head between his legs, and stared at the dancing flames in front of him in a daze.
"Uncle Wang, scholar, where are you, why did you leave me alone, alone...!"
Duan Qing murmured, and buried his head even lower. Thinking of Uncle Wang, Wu Wen and the others, and the situation he was in now, Duan Qing felt a sense of sadness in his heart.
"Little... little brother!"
At this time, a hoarse voice suddenly sounded around.
