Chapter 836 - I Suddenly Pity The Brat, Ye Shaoguang

“Then what about you?” Yan Qingsi asked, “What were you doing just now?”

“I was eating lychee,” Ji Mianmian replied.

Yan Qingsi loosened a breath at the answer. It seemed like she was doing fine.

“Why did you decide to stay there?”

“Sis, you have no idea how spacious and comfortable it is here!” Ji Mianmian twittered excitedly. “There’s even someone to serve me. And the best part is… I don’t have to pay rent. It’s great!”

Yan Qingsi’s jaw dropped open. She swallowed the words she was about to say.

It was because she suddenly pitied Ye Shaoguang. This man… was not going to have an easy time. It was his misfortune that he had met Ji Mianmian.

Yan Qingsi had wanted to tell Ji Mianmian to complain about all her difficulties to her, and she would help to avenge her. However, it seemed that… there was no need for that. Rather, she was starting to feel that, honestly, Ye Shaoguang liking a girl like Ji Mianmian… it was not easy!

Yet… he deserved it.

In this world, something came into existence to conquer another, and Ye Shaoguang finally met his match in Ji Mianmian.

“Leng Ran stays in the neighboring unit,” Yan Qingsi said, “Find him if you have any problems.”

“Mmhmm. I know. Don’t worry about me anymore. Just let me know all the updates on your schedule, okay?”

“Okay.”

She nagged a few more times, making sure that Ji Mianmian would not simply sleep with any man, then Yan Qingsi hung up. She exhaled internally. Ji Mianmian was not so worrying anymore.

It was just that Ye Shaoguang’s days seemed to be full of suffering from now on! Let him suffer then.

Yan Qingsi was out of it for these two days, always blanking out and not eating much. Sometimes, when she followed Mrs. Yue out shopping in the supermarket, one minute they would stroll along, the next moment, she was gone. It scared Mrs. Yue so much that when they went out again she constantly held onto Yan Qingsi’s hand.

Someone posted pictures of them on the internet. Plenty of people commented that Yan Qingsi had such a good relationship with her future mother-in-law. This was a sure sign of her marrying soon.

At night, Yue Tingfeng pulled Yan Qingsi onto the bed. They sat cross-legged, facing each other.

“It’s still early in the evening. Let’s talk about something serious. Tell me, what’s going on?” he said, “I know that something is troubling you inside. I didn’t want to coerce you into talking about it, but Mom will bring you to the doctor’s if you go on like this.”

Yan Qingsi massaged her temples. “It’s nothing, really. Maybe I’m thinking a lot more because I’ve got more free time on my hands recently. I’m just…”

Yan Qingsi did not want to lie to Yue Tingfeng, yet she did not want to mention that the thing troubling her was of her mother.

What Mrs. Yue had gone through before was still a thorn in Yan Qingsi’s side. She did not want to let the two of them get hurt again.

Yue Tingfeng exhaled. He extended a hand and tapped on Yan Qingsi’s forehead. “It’s because of what happened to my mother-in-law, right?”

This was probably the thing that was causing Yan Qingsi such internal distress. Nothing else would ever stress her out.

Yan Qingsi nodded. “My mother’s identity… It might be a problem.”

Yue Tingfeng thought about it for a while. “Didn’t your mother say that her parents died a long time ago?”

Yan Qingsi bobbed her head. “That’s right. They died early—even before I was born. I’ve never met either of them. Mom has always brought me to clean up their graves when I was young.”

Yue Tingfeng shuffled over to Yan Qingsi’s side, hugging her. “Then did she ever told you about your grandparents?”

Yan Qingsi shook her head. “She didn’t say anything in detail. She just told me that they were good people and that it was a pity that they died early. I don’t really know them—to the point that I don’t even know how they look like.”
