Chapter 680 Mekong River Development

In the courtyard.

Liu Tao is preparing for tomorrow's meeting and is meeting with the Mekong River Development Planning Group.

This development planning group has been established for four years.

Hundreds of millions of RMB have been invested so far. The development planning group is mainly composed of Chinese experts, with a few experts from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

The Mekong River originates in QH Province of my country and is called the Canglan River in my country. The Canglan River flows through Qinghai, Tibet and Yunnan Provinces, and exits the country in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. It is called the Mekong River, flows through Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and South Vietnam, and finally flows into the South China Sea in Ho Chi Minh City, South Vietnam.

Among them, most of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia use the Mekong River as the boundary.

As the only international river in Asia that connects six countries, the Mekong River is known as the "Danube of the East".

However, such a waterway with a superior geographical location has a long dry season and dangerous rapids on the main stream. There are many waterfalls and the navigation risk is relatively high. For a long time, the waterway has been relatively primitive and the shipping capacity is very limited.

Previously, China, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos signed the "Canglan-Mekong River Commercial Navigation Agreement", which clearly stated that the waters from Simao Port in Yunnan Province, China to Luang Prabang in Laos are international open waters, and Mekong River shipping began to be legalized.

A few years ago, Yunnan Province launched the Mekong River upstream channel regulation project, which took four years to complete and initially achieved the navigation capacity of 350-ton ships.

By last year, the cargo throughput of Jinghong Port reached 50,000 tons.

But this is just the beginning, just the starting point. Next, we need to develop Mekong River shipping, from the 350-ton ship navigation capacity to the 500-ton ship navigation capacity.

In this regard, we have to increase the regulation.

The entire Mekong River will form 14 ports and docks.

When seeing them off, Liu Tao couldn't help but shook his head slightly.

The Lancang-Mekong River waterway regulation project will be divided into three phases, each phase lasting five years. The goal of the first phase is to significantly improve the international waterway conditions after regulation, so that 500-ton ships can be navigable all year round. The second phase is to make 750-ton ships navigable all year round. The goal of the third phase is to make the waterway navigable for 1,000-ton ships all year round.

The entire project will span 20 years, with an estimated total investment of 40 billion yuan.

But Liu Tao knows that the total investment will probably reach 100 billion yuan after the completion of the entire project.

There are rising labor costs and rising material prices.

Although the navigation capacity of this waterway seems to be limited, it is nothing more than a tenfold increase in the total tonnage of navigable ships, but in fact the cargo throughput will increase by a hundred times, even a thousand times, or even ten thousand times, which is of great significance.

More importantly, from the perspective of the Lancang-Mekong River waterway, the connection between China, Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia will be strengthened.

"Avoiding Ho Chi Minh City and changing the artificial waterway to 100 kilometers is a big project." Liu Tao calculated.

Although this section can only accommodate 5,000-ton ships, there is a lot of earth to be excavated in this 100-kilometer river channel, and it is estimated that the excavation volume is about 200 to 300 million cubic meters.

In addition to sand that can be sold, a lot of soil must be found in the earthwork dump.

The reason for digging an artificial canal is naturally to be on the safe side.

South Vietnam has not let go of its hatred now. It can be said to be a time bomb that may explode at any time. How can Liu Tao develop the Mekong River waterway and let South Vietnam hold its lifeline?

Naturally, we must be prepared for the worst.

After all, the lowest downstream section is in other people's territory. It is too easy for them to find fault, and even directly seal the river, so that the Mekong River cannot be navigated into the sea.

At night, a hotel in Beijing.

The Thai military delegation was arranged to stay here.

"Now I have a worry, that is, whether the Chinese can build an aircraft carrier. After all, we know that China itself does not have an aircraft carrier, and I doubt that they can build an aircraft carrier." The head of the navy came to Chavalit Yongchaiyu's room and said with some concern.

Their biggest goal is to order an aircraft carrier from China.

But the problem is that everyone knows that China does not have an aircraft carrier.

It is incredible to think about it.

"China is developing very fast, even faster than our Thailand. Their high-speed rail technology is very advanced. You have also seen China's escort formation. The frigates and destroyers are very advanced." Chavalit Yongchaiyu said: "The Chinese do not have aircraft carriers, but because of their economic problems, they focus on developing the economy, and there is not much military expenditure, so they do not build aircraft carriers."

"And even if the aircraft carrier issue is not negotiated, if we can order frigates and destroyers, it will also achieve our goal." Chavalit Yongchaiyu is not 100% sure to get the aircraft carrier.

Because they have advanced missile boats, torpedo boats, frigates, and destroyers, they can fully meet the needs of the Thai Navy.

"The Chinese don't have aircraft carriers because they don't have the money to build them. We don't have high requirements for aircraft carriers. With China's capabilities, they can help us build them. This is also a good opportunity for them to make money. We all know them. As long as there is enough profit, they are willing to sell even the most advanced weapons." Chavalit Yongchaiyu said, and then glanced at the head of the navy: "Don't be fooled by Westerners, thinking that China is poor and backward, just like the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. Whoever believes it is a fool."

The mainstream view of China in the world now is that Chinese people have a pig's tail on their hair and that Chinese people are poor and backward.

But anyone who understands will sneer at it.

What a joke, as long as you think about it, you will know that it is impossible.

If that were true, how could China come up with the "two bombs and one satellite"?

Thailand is very close to China, and this feeling is even more obvious.

Look at Thailand's neighbors, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, and you will have a rough idea.

How can the Chinese and overseas Chinese in Thailand develop so fast? What is behind it? Doesn't he know it?

What is the background of the security company in Thailand? Doesn't he know it?

It is precisely because they basically understand it, so they turn a blind eye, as long as the security company does not do too much.

There is no stupid person who can reach this position. Anyone who is a little stupid would have been killed long ago.

"Everyone, please take care of yourself and don't make trouble this time. If anyone makes trouble, don't blame me for being ruthless! This is the capital, not Bangkok!" Chavalit Yongchaiyu warned his men again. He was afraid that someone could not control themselves and make trouble, which would be difficult to deal with.

In Bangkok, with their status and power, they can almost do whatever they want and be unscrupulous.

But in the capital, it is not possible.

If something happens here, he can't help clean up the mess, and he can't save anyone.

Others nodded quickly. They knew this well. After all, the Celestial Empire had only been gone for a hundred years.
