Chapter 958 In Washington, DC (Part 1)

The parking lot of this steak restaurant could not be used, so Jack called Jubal and asked him to notify the local FBI office to come and clean up the parking lot with the police. The two cars continued to drive towards New York.

It was not until they were almost in downtown New Haven that they found a 24-hour roadside restaurant to fill their stomachs. There was a motel next to the restaurant.

This time Jack learned his lesson. When choosing a room, he chose a location several rooms away from Reacher, finally avoiding the evil sound.

In fact, Reacher was relatively reserved, but Dixon, a genuine American girl, didn't care much about others. It might be that she had coveted someone for too long, and finally got what she wanted this time, and she would never give up until she had a good meal.

The next morning, several people acted separately. The driver of the Cayenne was replaced by O'Donnell, who took Jack and Reacher home first.

From his house, it can be seen that this guy made a lot of money from the small dirty hookups he did in Washington before. Not everyone can buy a two-story brick and stone building around Washington, DC.

O'Donnell's wife looked less than 30 years old, with black hair and a slim figure that is unique to the wealthy class in the United States. She didn't look like a mother of two sixty-seven-year-old boys.

Jack and Reacher each held a bottle of beer in their hands, staring blankly at the two little kids chasing and playing around the house.

The children certainly didn't know what was going on, but O'Donnell's wife's performance was quite impressive. When she heard her husband's evasive request to take the children to North Carolina for two days, she immediately packed up without saying a word.

"Have you got the adrenaline syringe?" O'Donnell stuffed a few stuffed toys into the small schoolbag.

"And the asthma spray, take them all." The woman quickly stuffed a suitcase full of them.

O'Donnell was still a little worried and warned, "Take your anonymous cell phone with you, don't contact anyone, don't contact your parents, and most importantly, don't contact your sister, she posts everything on Facebook.

When you arrive in Asheville, stay in the city center. There are many tourists there at this time. Try to blend in. Try to use cash, don't use credit cards."

"I know the rules." After O'Donnell's wife packed her things, she looked at her husband seriously, "Score from one to ten, how bad is this situation."

O'Donnell comforted with a flickering look in his eyes, "You will be fine, we are just acting out of caution."

Seeing his wife staring at him, he sighed, "Okay, for you, at most 4 points."

"What about you?" The woman said softly, and she was obviously not most concerned about herself and the children.

"We are dealing with some very bad villains, but now they have almost used up their methods, and I have these friends around me, nothing will happen, it will be over in a few days at most." O'Donnell promised solemnly.

"Be sure to be safe, for me and the children." The woman kissed O'Donnell on the face and called the two naughty children to go upstairs to pack clothes.

"She didn't look panicked at all, and she accepted it all calmly." Reacher probably understood why a former playboy was eaten to death.

"She is the daughter of the head nurse of the emergency room and the captain of the fire department. She is very strong." O'Donnell's tone was full of unconcealed pride.

"Smart, beautiful, brave, strong, so why would such a woman marry you? Lose the bet or save the hero?" Jack teased.

Reacher opened another bottle of beer and drank it slowly, "I thought you would die painfully because of your lower body rotting, and then a bunch of ex-girlfriends would fight for your 2004 Mazda."

O'Donnell raised a middle finger to each of them, "I just finally met the right person, and you, Jack, are you sure you have the right to laugh at me?"

Jack looked at Reacher angrily, and saw him turn his face away awkwardly, knowing that this guy must have betrayed him. O'Donnell only regarded Jiejie as his girlfriend before.

But he quickly found a reason for himself, "Actually, I am the same as you, but I am just luckier. I met more girls who are right, and I don't want to disappoint them."

——

"According to your suggestion, DHS has been focusing on finding the traces of the mysterious "AM". We suspect that the murder of a state policeman in Pennsylvania last night was related to him."

The two agents who received Jack and Reacher in the DHS office were still the two agents who came to New York with Reacher's brother Joey. Jack still remembered that the older one was called Omar Karim.

Agent Karim continued, "The state trooper stopped a car with a Colorado license plate and was killed while reporting the driver's identity. The murderer stabbed her heart with a precise knife."

"Why do you suspect that the murderer who killed the state trooper is related to 'AM'? Did the law enforcement recorder capture anything?" Jack asked curiously.

Agent Karim shook his head regretfully, "Nothing was captured. It was late at night and there were no witnesses around. The murderer was very experienced and destroyed the law enforcement recorder on the police officer and took away the memory card including the police car camera.

But at that time, the responsible female police officer had reported the driver's license information to the command center, and we found that the driver's identity matched that of a plastic surgeon who was killed in Denver, Colorado a day ago."

He put a photo in front of the two people. It showed a white man with black hair, black eyes and deep facial features. He looked to be in his thirties or forties and was very handsome.

"Do you suspect that 'AM' killed this plastic surgeon who looked a bit like him and replaced his identity?" Reacher understood what he meant.

"It's not suspicion, but almost certain." Agent Karim showed several photos of the scene. There were two dead people in the photos, the female nurse at the front desk of the clinic and the doctor in the office.

"Although our previous operation failed to catch the cunning 'AM', it also forced him to give up those pseudonyms that might be exposed. He could only find a temporary replacement identity and drive to New York."

"The cash in the clinic was not lost. The murderer only took the driver's license of the deceased? I agree with the judgment of DHS."

Jack flipped through the autopsy report and found that the fatal injuries were all on the side of the neck. The operation was very professional. The carotid artery and trachea were cut off with one knife. The victim didn't even have the chance to call for help.

They also shared the intelligence they had obtained so far, including the truth about the "Little Wings" project. Hearing that the case involved 650 portable anti-aircraft missiles and a transaction amount of 65 million, the two DHS agents could not help but get excited.

"We must take immediate action to block the Denver factory and confirm the whereabouts of those missiles. 'AM' must have gone to New York to complete the final transaction."

Just as Jack was hesitating whether to ask them to call Joey Reacher and then inform them that a senator was also involved, his phone suddenly rang.

The call was from Clay and Aubrey, who pretended to be inspectors of the Defense Contract Management Agency and went to the military factory of "New Age Technology" in Denver for inspection this morning.

They had just experienced an extremely dangerous gun battle and killed 5 armed bandits, but because their own vehicle was smashed, they were unable to stop a hijacked 18-wheeler from leaving in time.
