Chapter 1221 Yalu River and Tumen River
Heilongjiang's export destinations are Outer Mongolia, Russia, North Korea, South Korea, and Japan!
Currently, two sea-going channels have been opened. Although Russia will be given a portion of the benefits every year, it is a win-win cooperation between the two sides.
Jilin's sea-going channels are the Yalu River and the Tumen River.
The Yalu River was called the Heshui River in ancient times. It was called the Zishui River and the Yizhou River in the Han Dynasty. It was called the Yalu River in the Tang Dynasty. It was named because of its green water color and its strictness like a duck head. The Yalu River originates from the southern foot of the Baishan Mountain in Gaoguan, Jilin, and flows through Changbai, Ji'an, Kuandian, Dandong and other places, and flows southward into the Yellow Sea. It is 795 kilometers long.
The Yalu River is the boundary river between China and North Korea.
Huaxia Port Group Corporation has invested a large amount of money to dredge the Yalu River, build riverside docks and build Dandong Port, so that the entire section of the Yalu River can be navigated by 2,000-ton cargo ships, greatly enhancing the shipping capacity of Jilin Province.
The Tumen River is the boundary river between China and North Korea. The main stream is 525 kilometers long, the total drop of the river is 1,200 meters, and the average slope of the river is 1.6%!
China Port Group Corporation has invested tens of billions of RMB in the navigation projects of the Yalu River and Tumen River.
As for the work with North Korea, it took a lot of effort.
After completion, 2,000-ton cargo ships can pass through, and 5,000-ton cargo ships can pass through the lower reaches.
Like the Tumen River, the Yalu River has only three Sino-North Korean bridges as land passages for both sides.
These six bridges are the Yalu River Bridge and the Tumen River Bridge.
The six bridges were all funded by China and are also the locations of the ports of the two countries.
Liu Tao took a boat, accompanied by Li Weimin and others, to inspect the Yalu River together.
There is a clear difference between the two sides of the Yalu River, which is like two worlds.
"The Yalu River in Liao Province has a navigable capacity of 4,000 to 5,000 tons, which has brought great impetus to the economic development of the coast!" Li Weimin introduced.
The improvement of the navigable capacity of the Yalu River is extremely important for the development of Liao Province.
In addition, with the completion of the Bohai Bay Bridge and Tunnel Project, the connection between Liao Province and Shandong Province has been directly opened up, and it is no longer dependent on ferries.
The two cities of Dalian and Yantai are directly connected, and there is no need to make a big turn like before.
The Yalu River in Liao Province has plains on the banks.
Some water conservancy hubs have been built along the river, playing a role in flood control, power generation, irrigation, and navigation.
Of course, these projects benefit not only China, but also North Korea, and some electricity and water are supplied to North Korea.
In addition, Panshan Group provides North Korea with 500,000 tons of grain and 10,000 tons of fertilizers every year.
In addition, North Korea's annual natural gas and oil are basically supplied by China Petroleum Group, and the price is much lower than that of Japan and South Korea.
In 2004, China's food aid to North Korea reached 1 million tons, far exceeding the international food aid to North Korea, because last year the international food aid to North Korea was only 1.046 million tons.
At the same time, China's oil supply to North Korea is nearly one million tons every year. Although a large part of it is paid, a small part is free aid.
North Korea imports oil from China, not only the price is lower than the market price in Japan and South Korea, but also usually allows North Korea to postpone payment for one to two years.
China's food aid and oil supply can be said to have become North Korea's life supply line.
In addition to food and oil, China's aid and exports to North Korea cover everything from daily consumer goods to industrial raw materials.
North Korea's annual material gap is almost solved by China.
Liu Tao came to the Northeast this time, in addition to inspecting the three provinces in the Northeast, to attend the first Northeast Asia Summit.
The Northeast Asia Summit overcame many difficulties and finally brought Outer Mongolia, Russia, North Korea, South Korea, Japan, and Ryukyu together.
This is the first step in the economic integration of Northeast Asia, from the previous civil discussion to the summit exchange at the government level.
The first Northeast Asia Summit was held in Shenyang.
To be honest, it was not easy to promote this Northeast Asia Summit, because the Americans did not want to see such a summit.
Even Russia has its own interests to consider.
Continuously doing ideological work on all parties, this led to the first Northeast Asia Summit.
For China, this is a national strategy, Northeast Asia integration, then this is a huge opportunity for the development of the three northeastern provinces, and the benefits are naturally many.
It is normal to have a hard job.
But it does not mean that if the job is hard, you will not do it.
Liu Tao glanced at the other side. The other side used barbed wire to pull up along the coast, making it impossible for ordinary people to swim in the river.
Liu Tao sighed in his heart. Once upon a time, it was not like this.
It was just the development of the times that led the two sides to two very different paths.
Going down the Yalu River, the water conservancy hubs are equipped with locks, and you can go down through the locks.
Unlike the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the overall slope of the Yalu River is very small, and only a few sections need to establish hubs to adjust the river gradient and improve the navigation conditions.
This is the same as rivers such as the Mekong River.
Finally, in the afternoon, they arrived at Dandong Port.
Dandong Port is located in the north of the Yellow Sea, northeast of the Liaodong Peninsula, and on the west bank of the Yalu River estuary. It is adjacent to Dalian in the south and across the river from the Korean Peninsula in the east. It is one of the ports closest to the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese Archipelago in China, and is also the northernmost international trade port on the Chinese coastline.
Last year, the entire Dandong Port completed a cargo throughput of 1.5 tons, and both the throughput and revenue levels hit a record high in Dandong Port's history.
The entire Dandong Port has a designed throughput of 200 million tons.
And with the expansion of Dandong Port, the cargo throughput of the entire Dandong Port will be expanded to 250 million tons.
At present, Dandong Port has 48 berths, including 42 deep-water berths of 10,000 tons and above, including 8 deep-water berths of 10,000 tons, 6 deep-water berths of 30,000 tons, 4 deep-water berths of 35,000 tons, and 24 deep-water berths of 50,000 tons. Langtou Port currently has 10 berths, 8 3,000-ton berths, and 1 1,000-ton berth.
In addition, other small and medium-sized ports currently have 11 berths of 100 tons to 450 tons and 22 berths of 1,000 tons to 5,000 tons, distributed along the Yalu River.
The total area of warehouses that have been built is 29,000 square meters, the total effective area of the yard is 606,000 square meters, and the container terminal is about 153,000 square meters.
As an ice-free port, a port like Dandong Port is definitely a port that Russia dreams of.
At this time, Liu Tao saw a ship with the flag of North Korea hanging on it, entering Dandong Port. He asked Li Weimin, and Li Weimin judged that it should be hair products exported to China.
North Korea can export limited things, mainly mineral resources, seafood and hair products, among which hair products are the top products exported by North Korea to China, accounting for about 57% to 70% of North Korea’s total exports to China.
The so-called hair products mainly include wigs, false eyelashes, false beards, etc.
Then there are some special export products, such as ginseng, and many wild ginsengs come from North Korea.
As for industrial products, North Korea’s industrial products are not competitive. (End of this chapter)
