Chapter 1282 Study Camp
For the education of immigrants, the East African government has mastered a set of standardized procedures, which are now mainly applicable to East African overseas colonies.
At the immigrant learning camp in Davao City.
"I am your instructor Betzdorf. In the next few days, I will use Russian to tell you the rules and laws that should be followed in the Mindanao colony, as well as the requirements for naturalization."
"Coming here does not mean that you can relax. If you can't get the local household registration, your status will always be inferior. Don't think I am exaggerating."
"In Mindanao, there are still many indigenous people who have not completed naturalization. They will do the most difficult work and get the lowest salary."
"And the most important thing for naturalization in Mindanao is to master standard German. In Mindanao, many Slavs have joined the big family of Mindanao in this way."
Of course, Betzdorf obviously did not mention East African nationality, but only the regional nationality of Mindanao. This situation is widely present in East African colonies. After all, there is only one overseas territory that has joined the East African administrative system like the Lanfang Overseas Province.
There is nothing much to say about this. Just like the vast colonies of Britain, the British could not regard the colonies as their homeland.
Betzdorf said: "In Mindanao, the planned economy is fully implemented. What is a planned economy? Simply put, you must do what the government requires you to do, and you cannot do what is prohibited. If there are no regulations, you must apply to the higher authorities and cannot act on your own."
"There is a lot of undeveloped land in Mindanao, so we must unite all forces to develop the local area and build this place as your new home."
"When the Mindanao colony develops to a certain stage, you can do whatever you want."
Having said that, even if Mindanao really develops in the future, it is obvious that illegal things must not be done.
Betzdorf continued, "Of course, to make it easier for you to understand, you can regard the current management of the Mindanao colony as militarized management."
"Of course, we don't need you to fight, just complete the production work, which includes logging, construction, land reclamation, entering mines and other mainstream work in Mindanao."
"And the allocation of materials is fully managed by the government, including your food, clothing, housing and transportation, which are completely borne by the government. While enjoying these benefits, you naturally need to pay a price until you become a citizen."
"After naturalization, you can choose your own career and control your own time more freely like the citizens of Davao City today."
Of course, this also means that East Africa will no longer bear their minimum living security needs at that time. After all, the price of freedom is self-reliance.
At first glance, the former seems good, but based on the actual situation of the two, most people will choose the latter after a while.
Afterwards, Betzdorf began to tell this group of Slavs about other things that need to be paid attention to in Mindanao.
There are three immigrant study camps in Davao City, mainly targeting three groups, one for Slavic immigrants, one for Far Eastern Empire immigrants, and the last one for other immigrants.
If the Germans choose to immigrate here, they obviously do not need to join the study camp to study. Of course, there are not many Germans immigrating to East Africa at present, and the Germans immigrating to the East African colonies are even rarer.
The three study camps in Davao City have a student population of about 6,000 to 7,000 people all year round, which is not included in the population of Davao City.
Most of them can't stay in Davao City for long. Davao City is a transit station. Generally, within two months, these immigrants will be redistributed to various places in the Mindanao colony, and most of the time, a group of people may be replaced in one or two weeks.
In the Davao City study camp, the main teaching is language, rules, and helping these immigrants to initially adapt to the local climate.
Acclimatization is actually the biggest problem encountered by immigrants. Many immigrants lose their lives every year due to this reason.
The good news is that East Africa, as the only tropical power, is also the country with the most experience and technology in dealing with tropical diseases and climate, so the immigration loss rate has been maintained within the acceptable range of the East African government.
In fact, in the Nanyang colonies, the most likely to die are the Slavs. After all, the climate contrast between Nanyang and the places where the Slavs live is simply poles apart.
Not all Slavs can't stand this climate, such as Yugoslavia in the Balkans, which has much better adaptability.
...
In the evening.
In the cafeteria of the study camp.
"This is rice, the food of East Africans, it tastes weird, but such a big bowl is really solid and friendly to teeth." Kumoyev said while holding a spoonful of rice with a rice spoon.
In Nanyang, East Africa is not equipped with chopsticks as tableware like in the original homeland, at least in the non-Far East Empire Immigration Study Camp.
This also shows that East Africa is relaxed about some details in overseas colonies.
Lieblia said: "I heard from my predecessors that in Mindanao, the daily food will probably be this kind of rice."
"Because in Mindanao, rice is the only food crop that can be grown on a large scale. It is not suitable for growing wheat or barley and other crops here."
In this era, Ukraine, as the granary of Tsarist Russia, planted more than 80% of the wheat in Russia, as well as a large amount of barley, sugar beets and other crops.
So the staple food of Ukrainians is generally wheat and barley, but even so, Ukrainians live on the poverty line.
After all, as an agricultural country, wheat exports accounted for a large part of the finances of Tsarist Russia, and in relatively backward countries like Tsarist Russia, the land was basically concentrated in the hands of large landowners and nobles.
After all, there are people fighting for high-quality land. From this point of view, farmers in Russia's Siberia may live better than Ukrainians, provided that they overcome the closed transportation and more difficult environment.
And when it comes to Mindanao, the situation here cannot be found in the whole of Russia, regardless of language, customs, food, etc.
Kumoyev said: "As long as they can fill their stomachs, they can accept any food, and East Africans are very kind."
"In addition to rice, they also prepared meat and fruits. This should be sea fish. There are many fishing boats in Davao, which should be their main source of meat. In Ukraine, meat is rarely eaten, but there are more fish bones."
Leblia said: "It's good to have something to eat, and you still want to pick! And sea fish have much fewer bones than freshwater fish. It's good to be able to share so much fish meat."
"There are also bananas and this kind of fruit I don't know. Bananas are rare in Russia. I have only heard of them before, but in Davao City, bananas are everywhere."
The fruit that Leblia said he didn't know was actually cut pineapple pieces. There are many orchards in Davao City, and these fruits are basically very cheap.
Of course, for the lower-class people living in Russia, they are likely to not recognize the various local fruits and vegetables.
Many Slavs have never even seen bananas. Although Russia was once a major importer of bananas in East Africa, bananas are obviously not a product that ordinary Russians can afford.
If it is a country like Germany, or an economically developed region in Russia, the people there have different views.
Even if they have not seen the real thing, they can make up for it through education. For example, in a country like Germany that implements comprehensive compulsory education, you can find a German at random, and their views are much better than most people in the world.
Regarding these fruits, Kumoyev only replied with one sentence: "So sweet!"
In fact, there are many fruits in Ukraine, and apples, cherries, etc. are relatively common, but they are the first to come into contact with fruits from tropical regions. In addition, they have had a difficult life recently, so they naturally have more subjective feelings.
