Chapter 894 - If This was the Olden Times, She Would Be a Lost Princess
Grandma Su’s eyes brightened. She patted her old companion. “You should have thought like that long ago. You caused me to lose my appetite and sleep these few days. Tell me, what should we do if it really is true? If this were the olden times, she would be a lost princess. How can we hide that?”
Grandpa Su smiled and shook his head. “Regardless of the time, she’s still a princess… Don’t make a fuss about this anymore. Now that Meimei is here, our children and their families should be here tonight as well. Meimei is bringing Qingsi for a visit for the first time. As her elders, they cannot be disrespectful.”
Grandma Su nodded her head. “Don’t worry. I’ve already called them. They’re coming back tonight.”
Grandpa Su released a sigh of relief. “Our eldest has always been in contact with Old Xia’s son. Their relationship isn’t too bad. Since you can’t directly ask Peiwan, why don’t you ask our eldest to do the questioning? That boy was fourteen when his sister had gotten into that accident. He should know everything.”
“But Old Xia’s son is super busy now,” Grandma Su said, frowning, “Besides, he’s now…”
Grandpa Su shook his head, smiling. “No matter how busy he is, no matter how affluent he has become, he’s still…a human. He still needs friends. Also, our family’s influence isn’t that far beneath him, right? I think you’re being too cautious now…”
“I didn’t mean that. I just think that it seems strange if we suddenly sought him out. Never mind… I’ll just listen to you. I can’t think of anything else anyway.”
Grandpa Su patted her shoulder. “You’re thinking too much.”
“That’s right. Meimei and Tingfeng have already set their eyes on Qingsi already. I too think that she is not too bad. You better be nicer to her. She’s going to marry into the Yue family. After all, she’ll be living her days out with Tingfeng anyway. It’s no use watching over her like a hawk.”
Grandma Su nodded. “I know. You don’t have to remind me. I’m just… Argh…”
Grandma Su shook her head. She did not complete her sentence.
Even though Yan Qingsi truly looked like her old friend, Peiwan, she thought that she was not too bad of a young lady after meeting her today.
However, Grandma Su could tell that Yan Qingsi was not your regular young lady. She was steady, calm. Her eyes did not look like they belonged to a young woman in her vibrant twenties; they were deep and solemn.
She had visited the Sus’ house and saw what it looked like. She had seen that pair of jade pendants. Yet her eyes did not reveal the slightest hint of delight or greed—they did not even reveal admiration.
Grandma Su truly felt that this young lady was complex.
Normally, even educated and wealthy people could not help but sing out praises when they visited her place. Their eyes always revealed what they were thinking, ‘It would be nice if I could stay in a place like this.’
However, there was not a single ripple of emotion in Yan Qingsi’s deep eyes. Sure, this sort of lady was good, but how could that idiot daughter of hers hold onto her!
Mrs. Yue called Yan Qingsi, asking her to come back earlier. In the evening, the entire Su family would be coming back to hold an official celebration to welcome them.
Thus, Yan Qingsi had a discussion with the director to finish shooting two scenes earlier. She quickly went back once she finished filming, at least managing to go back before 7:30 p.m.
Yan Qingsi was worried that she would be late, so she rushed back. “Don’t be in such a panic,” Yue Tingfeng said, “My uncles and their wives are easy to talk to. Just wait and receive your presents nicely. That’s all.”
“It’s not nice if I’m late during my first visit,” Yan Qingsi said, “Let’s hurry.”
Yue Tingfeng pinched her hand. “Calm down. We’re not late. Besides, the Su family isn’t that strict. They’ll simply punish you with a glass of alcohol if you’re really late. Don’t worry.”
